Firstly, I would like to say that I am not a moderator; this list is not moderated in the usual sense of the
word. Everything that is sent to 'rp-ml@cs.hut.fi' is sent to all in the list, even if the sender is not in the
list. There is no easy way to change this behaviour.
Secondly, I can---and should---be the person to issue some guidelines on "good" behaviour, but I have no power to enforce them.
Finaly, I take this matter as closed. I totally agree with the views of Mr. Curt Lang, and I am certain
that individuals and/or companies can inform us of their services without using "commercial/advertising"
vocabulary and cliches.
Has anyone read the latest issue of "The Economist"? There is no way one can avoid using computer
networks to announce the availability of services and/or products.
I just hope that the "other" issues debated compensate for the nuisance this might cause to some. And, remember, the list covers a wide range of individuals with different cultural and technical background, and different, perhaps conflicting, interests.
It will be very difficult to please everyone. Tolerance is the name of the game.
Regards,
Andre'
