Subject: Rapid Tool Finishing

I wish to communicate with anyone interested in the problem of reducing
near net shape tools made by rapid processes to net shape. As I see it, the
problem is one of accuracy and one of surface finish. While I am most
interested in tooling for injection molding, any unconventional approaches for
other types of process tooling anyone can suggest may apply.

For injection mold tools, one must establish the proper alignment, shut-off,
height, surface finish, ejection and part replication accuracy in a pair of
near net shape mold inserts. Even before the above operations are made, one
must have or establish a suitabe reference surface(s) from which to start.

I welcome any suggestions or leads.

Thanks in advance,
