I was planning to postpone posting the answers I've got concerning
benchmarking until Sept due to the vacation season.

However, since Mr. M. Burns has already revived the subject in this mailing
list, you can find the other responses I've got so far at the end of this
message.

A few comments of my own:

1. If we cannot agree on how to benchmark RPT (or addfab processes), perhaps
   we could agree on GUIDELINES. Wouldn't this mailing list be a good place
   to discuss this topic?

2. Public-domain benchmark objects:
   It would be usefull if someone made the description of these objects
   in STL form available via anon. ftp.
