Subject: Re: Rapid Tooling using SLA patterns
As a recent subscriber to the rp-ml, I would like to offer some
information to the group about injection molded parts based on SLA
patterns. Your inquiry had to do with R&D efforts directed at rapid
tooling solutions.
I operate the Southeast regional office for Laser Prototypes, Inc., an SLA
service bureau with 2 SLA-250s. We recently opened a rapid tooling
facility which combines SLA patterns with a composite tooling process. The
result is a tool which can be used to produce prototype parts, injection
molded in the production material. I would be happy to provide additional
details to those who are interested. (As a new subscriber, I don't want to
step on any "toes" with the appearance of advertising.) However, I am very
excited about the possibilities for this process, for it can address
plastic injection molded parts as well as wax patterns for investment
castings.
