Subject: Thin Layers
RP types,
To start a new thread, I'd like to ask the group a couple of SLA related questions.
(1) What is the thinnest layer thickness that you can RELIABLY build in your SLA (-1, -250, -500) using epoxy resin?
(2) What tricks do you pull to accomplish this thinness?
On our end, Beth and I used to build a lot of very-small-cross-section parts at 3
mils with SL-5170 in our SLA-250. Doing so seems to be extremely dependent on a
PRECISE calibration of the recoater arm; to a degree that we find to lack
repeatability. As such we have put three mil layers on the unreliable list. Now
we build small sections at 4 mils, and large sections at 5 mils.
Any thoughts?
- Rob
