    If you are willing to consider the Mac platform there is a some software that
can not be beaten for developing full 3-D solids for less than $50,000 per
seat. This software package is Form*Z by Auto*des*sys.  It cost between $1500
and $2000 depending on if you are getting a 68K or the PPC version.  It has
STL output options and will easily port to AutoCAD 12 virtually transparently
through DXF and IGES.
     I have used it for nearly 18 months and have done several ports to different
SLA SB's with excellent results.
