At the March meeting of the North American Stereolithography Users Group, a
session was held concerning the safe use of Stereolithography resins. I will
briefly summarize that session.
All physical contact with liquid resins should be avoided. Individuals can
become sensitized to resins which could result in a dermal condition (similar
to what you describe). Each individual has a different sensitivity. Inhalation
of vapors should also be kept to a minimum.
At Sandia we always wear rubber lab coats and gloves and tape the sleeves to
the gloves to prevent any possible exposure to the skin. We wear safety
glasses with side shields and a respirator when cleaning the vats. Our
machines and PCA's have been retrofited with exhaust systems and are located in
a well ventalated lab.
I suggest you contact your resin vendor who can put you in touch with a
toxicologist and other experts to discuss your specific condition. If you have
that expertise in your company that might be another option.
I hope this helped.
