I called Schroff today and asked about the system. It's a
semiautomatic machine that cuts the layers on a knife-plotter and then
uses a manual stacking device to register them to each other. It sounds
similar to a system developed by Sparx in Sweden a few years back and now
discontinued. It is apparently based on some research at the University
of Utah. Schroff is a vendor of a low-cost 3-D CAD program called
SilverScreen.
