     I am in immediate need for a listing of all current studies/assessments 
or papers on the rp industry.
     It looks like the Dept. of Commerce will be publishing a 30+ page 
assessment of the industry including such topics as the state of each 
technology, R&D funding, applications, long range perspective, 
international standings, government's possible role in furthering the 
industry in the US, currently funded projects, etc..  Thsi will be a 
quick and dirty assessment since we only have 2 months to put it together 
and then it will be as widely disseminated as possible.  Following the 
paper will probably be a workshop and then a more detailed assessment, 
along the lines of 200 pages.
     To date I have a copy of the 1993 NIST study on the individual 
technologies, I know of and am trying to obtain a copy of the 1993 UTC 
study, I have a copy of Terry Wohlers latest State of the Industry 
report, a listing of ARPA, NIST, NSF, and DOE projects, 36 US 
universities engaging in RP research and little more than that.  If 
anyone is aware of additional studies please send me the name of the 
study, where I can get a copy of it, and any additonal info on the 
contents of the study.  I am also aware of the recent IMS efforts in 
benchmarking.
     It looks as if the US Dept. of Commerce will head up this effort but it 
is not guaranteed yet.  I should have more info by the end of the week 
but need to turn in this info shortly for them to make their decision to 
do this or not.
     I have heard recent request for more current info than the NIST study and 
a cry from the user community for more cohesive/comprehensive views on 
the industry. It seems that current efforts are a bit fragmented and are 
lacking the vision that manufacturers are needing such as rp techniques 
that can be used for directly making molds and dyes, and other things to 
make the technology commercially viable on a large scale.  This does not 
imply that current work is inadequate, but more that current work needs 
to be better coordinated so that the few research dollars available make 
the greatest impact.
     I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has any of the above mentioned 
info.
