2nd ICRPD - International Conference on Rapid Product Development

Subject:
The organisation of product development is becoming a key task
for companies in an increasingly turbulent environment. The starting
point for all considerations must be the efficiency of new production
techniques for prototypes, the so-called 'Generative manufacturing
methods' or also 'Rapid prototyping technologies'. They are revolu-
tionising the development process on account of the rapid availability
of almost every kind of prototype. However, the attainable rationali-
sation and innovation potential also depends to a large extent on the
organisation of the environment of these new manufacturing methods.
This includes the continuity of information chains, intelligent forms
of organisation, lean project management, strict cost targets and
constant cost transparency, specific involvement of customers,
evolutionary quality management, selection and integration of
partners, transfer of empirical knowledge, and much more.
ICRPD made its debut in 1995 and was the first international confe-
rence which set out to examine all aspects of future product develop-
ment both in detail and in their interdependence. The extremely posi-
tive response of trade visitors encouraged us to hold the 2nd lCRPD
in 1996.
New topic structure:
In order to take more acount of the information needs of visitors
to lCRPD, we are planning to introduce two major innovations:
- The 2nd lCRPD will be held over two days with parallel sessions.
This will ensure that all important topics can be discussed to an
adequate extent.
- The submitted papers will be divided into the following areas:

This will ensure that each target group receives the latest information
on a more needs-oriented basis.

Expert review and conference proceedings:
Summaries of approx. 300 words should be submitted in English/German.
The name of the author, title and company/institute should be shown
clearly. The contents should also be assigned to the above categories
by means of about 5 key terms. Please also state whether your paper
is to be regarded as a management statement, a user report or a scien-
tific discussion paper.
The programme committee will make a selection from the submitted
summaries and put together a final conference programme. The authors
must ensure that, if they are accepted, a complete, printable article in
English/German is submitted in good time for publication in the book of
conference proceedings. The guidelines on the formal layout of the
paper will be sent together with the notification of its acceptance by
the programme committee.
Every submitted paper that is accepted must be presented by at least
one author at the conference.

CAT '96 Production will present the complete range of process
-oriented, computer-aided technologies. It will show how the
individual production stages can be co-ordinated in terms of
functions, how CAD/CAD systems ranging from design through
to the finished product can be used to the full, and what oppor-
tunities are offered for business sucess through the integration
of computer-aided technologies.
