Hi ,
I think that your work in AIM has gaven you a good knowledge about the
process, do you thing AIM is the best alternative for tooling when you
need a low volume of production ? I mean, I have read about other
techniques as the Keltool process or Spray Metal and it seems that
those are very different approaches.
Here at ITESM university we have a SLA 250 workin with 5149 acrylic
resin and this resins is not very suitable for AIM, that's why I moved to
find alternatives similar to keltool, this are alternatives that could
work not only with stereolithography models, but with models from other
RP machines (this is an interesting point).
What I'm trying is an approach similar to 3D keltool but using a
epoxy resing sustituting the "Metal Mix" that is used for keltool, this
have been adecuate for making some molds and patterns for foundry purposes.
I have not tried as much materials as I would like cause I have several
problems to get materials here in Mexico. Have you tried (or thought)
in other process for tooling ?
thanks for your reply, I hope we could be in contact, all this is very
interesting for me and important to continue with my thesis project.
Best Regards.
