Elaine,
Your mention of 5081 resin in the discussion of how to package parts
for shipment made me wonder how many of us were SLA users "back then."
I still have the training manual (software version 3.81) from 1990
when I started in the business and remember doing things like
collecting laser power level readings, averaging them, and manually
entering the value into the build parameters. That, and typing things
like: NS3 P1 8 P2 10 P3 12 G1 120 G2 110 G3 100 ZW 30 when preparing
a part.
It really brings to my mind how much the system has advanced when I
recall needing 24 or more hours to slice a part on a 386 UNIX
computer, and then 24 more hours to merge the files on the 286 build
station computer.
Do you suppose anyone else can imagine having to run a laser down to 5
Mw before it qualified for replacement under the service contract?
By the way, my solution to packing the very fragile 5081 parts was to
include a two-part epoxy kit.
