Netscape Communicator

I'm having a problem with Netscape Communicator that has stumped me.
When I try to down load a .stl file from the web my browser shows it as
text and will not give me the option to "save as". If the file is a .zip
file it gives me the "save as" option and I can download. Can someone
explain what I can do to correct this?
