     WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 17, 1997--

PTC's New Product Release Delivers Enhanced Capabilities

Parametric Technology Corporation (NASDAQ:PMTC), announces that Release
19.0 of its Pro/ENGINEER family of software solutions is shipping to customers
this week. Introducing three new modules and hundreds of key performance
enhancements, Release 19.0 delivers the most comprehensive and tightly
integrated applications available today to leverage the product model
throughout the enterprise.

With Release 19.0, PTC provides new and powerful functionality, including
enhanced information management tools; improved capabilities for migration of
legacy data; and dynamic tools to allow interaction with Pro/ENGINEER through
a
Netscape(R) browser.

"This production-proven, fully mature release offers enhanced
capabilities
for leveraging both legacy data and Pro/ENGINEER product model information
throughout the product development process," noted John Stuart, vice president
of corporate marketing at Parametric Technology. "PTC believes that the
combination of our enhanced release schedule and open architecture strategy
will enable our customers to more fully utilize the competitive advantages of
Pro/ENGINEER according to their unique business needs and time frames."

 Pro/Web.Link(tm)

New for Release 19.0, Pro/Web.Link allows the World Wide Web to be used
as
a powerful engineering tool. A company can create custom web pages that
interact with a session of Pro/ENGINEER to facilitate a variety of engineering
tasks. These web applications can be combined into a sophisticated web
engineering environment that contains information required to perform
engineering work while at the same time automating the application of that
information.

PTC's Pro/Web.Link was acknowledged by Industry Week magazine as a
"Technology of the Year" for 1997. With Pro/Web.Link, companies can realize an
improved time to market by streamlining their engineering process flow. In
addition, quality can be improved through consistent information reuse and
consistent enforcement of standards throughout a corporation. Through the web,
several enterprise information tools can be integrated with Pro/ENGINEER into
a
single controlled, distributed, platform-independent environment.

Many different web-based applications can be developed with Pro/Web.Link.
For instance, interactive engineering design assistants can automate the
creation of standard models such as gears. Engineering changes can also be
documented through web pages that describe the changes and illustrate the
effects in Pro/ENGINEER. Web pages can be combined with video, audio and
Pro/ENGINEER model manipulation to form an online tutorial that shows how to
perform an engineering task.

Information Management

Significant performance improvements have been made to both Pro/PDM(tm)
and Pro/INTRALINK(tm), PTC's information management tools. Pro/PDM offers easy-
to-use design management tools for the concurrent development environment.
Unlike traditional data management applications that focus on managing files,
Pro/PDM is optimized to manage Pro/ENGINEER models, including components,
relationships and all associated information.

Enhanced for Release 19, Pro/INTRALINK is an innovative Concurrent
Development Management System (CDMS) which provides unique and powerful tools
to manage and enhance the concurrent development process by incorporating
information management activities directly into the design process.

New for Release 19.0, Pro/DocMgr(tm) for Pro/INTRALINK provides enhanced
management and viewing of non-Pro/ENGINEER documents for Pro/INTRALINK users.
Documents can be more easily modified and stored within the Pro/INTRALINK
environment and automatically converted to a neutral representation for
viewing
that is compatible with the document viewer included with Pro/DocMgr for
Pro/INTRALINK.

Legacy Data Migration

New for Release 19, Pro/CDM(tm) enhances migration of legacy data and
users from mainframe computer-based CADAM(R) to a cost-effective, workstation-
based product modeling environment. Pro/CDM offers a familiar user interface
for maintaining the CADAM legacy data, making the transition off the mainframe
effortless.
