Corp.Combines Integrated Document Management Software with Mechanical
Design Solutions

(Business Wire; 02/24/98)

COSTA MESA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 24, 1998--FileNET Corp.
(Nasdaq:FILE) today announced a partnership with Parametric Technology
Corp.(R) (PTC) that will result in an integration of software components
from the two companies. The integration will help manufacturers reduce the
time to market for new products by providing access to all documents across
the
enterprise during the design-through-manufacturing process.

As a new member of PTC's Cooperative Software Partners (CSP) program,
FileNET, through development partner Thermo Information Solutions (TIS),
will use PTC's Pro/INTRALINK(TM) Toolkit to integrate FileNET's Panagon(TM)
IDM software with PTC's Pro/ENGINEER(R), the market-leading mechanical
CAD/CAM/CAE software.

The integration will enable PTC users to easily manage and view documents,
including images, CAD files, text, video and fax. The integration will also
provide work-in-process capabilities that control access to documents based
on their current state in the engineering change process. These
capabilities help organizations monitor and control the development and
life-cycle of complex documents.

"In today's competitive marketplace, companies need to leverage information
assets to improve engineering processes and optimize product quality," said
Alan Heinlein, software partner manager at PTC. "The PTC/FileNET
partnership will help organizations ensure accurate product information is
always available across the enterprise."

"In today's competitive environment, it is critical for engineering teams
to have fast access to the right information needed for production
decisions," said Lewis Carpenter, senior vice president of worldwide
marketing at FileNET. "Integrating the best-of-class integrated document
management capabilities ofPanagon software with mechanical design solutions
helps engineering organizations reduce overall costs and increase their
competitive advantage by bringing products to market more quickly."

FileNET Panagon IDM software allows organizations to cost-effectively
access any document from any desktop and then put those documents to work
using document-centric, graphical workflow processes. It can be deployed on
Microsoft(R) Windows(R) and Web client desktops, significantly reducing
deployment time for document-enabled line-of-business and general-access
applications. FileNET Panagon software supports the tools and standards,
such as Microsoft Common Object Model (COM) and ActiveX(TM) technologies,
favored by today's developers building state-of-the-art applications.
