Ph.D. Studentships
There are two Ph.D. studentships available at De Montfort University,
Leicester, England to work with Professor Phill Dickens.
These studentships will be for three years each and will cover the Ph.D.
registration fees and provide a bursary of £5,000 per annum.
Professor Dickens is looking for good students with a First Class
Honours degree or 2:1 (or equivalent if from overseas).
The likely areas of work are in:
1) Rapid Tooling such as Stereolithography tooling for injection
moulding or Laminated Tooling for Injection Moulding/Die casting/Sheet
Metal Forming.
2) Rapid Manufacturing where the additive manufacturing techniques will
be developed into processes to make end use parts in quantities up to
50,000. Two areas of work here will be jetting of materials and laser
fusion of tool steel powder.
