Scott,
We have just started to use solid edge and we have found that a
"conversion factor"= .001 seems to be pretty good. If file size is not
a problem .0001 is better but, the file size jumped about 30%. Also
when we tried .00001 and .000001 we had a strange finish and we don't
know if it is the stl file or the Maestro software. Our samples were 1
in diameter by 1.5 in tall. Now as far as changing the "conversion
factor" when you do a "Save As" an "Options" button appears and that is
where you can change the "conversion factor".

I have a customer using Solid Edge sending me very rough .stl files.
Does anyone out in RP land know how to increase the accuracy on a Solid
Edge .stl
