The phenomena you are seeing in Pro/E is common on all platforms including
Windows NT. PTC claims to perform a memory cleanup when you ERASE from
memory. Unfortunately, this really isn't the case. The memory is left in
a dirty state with sections of it still dedicated but not used. If you
monitor your processes through SGI utilities, you will see that some
memory will be released but a majority of it stays dirty. So far, there
is no fix but to leave Pro/E.
