For Immediate Release:

Javelin, a 3D Presentation Studio, has received a contract from the
Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to design and prototype
components in titanium. Javelin will use the, MetLAMTM process, that
they designed specifically for metal rapid prototyping. Research funds
allocated for design and equipment will come to over
1.1 million.

During the two year contract period, Javelin designers and materials
specialists will team with Pratt and Whitney engineers to demonstrate
their concept. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Company.

Javelin, located in South Salt Lake City, emphasizes design, prototyping,
and production of industrial components out of engineered materials such
as technical ceramics and advanced polymers. A variety of rapid
prototyping systems are used by Javelin. These include: Fused Deposition
Modeling, Laminated Object Manufacturing, 3D Printing, and
Stereolithography. Short-run production is accomplished using an
injection molding process for both polymeric and ceramic materials.

In addition to prototypes and models, the company provides engineering
and graphics services.
