Henrick,

Here at the IMC we run a Helisys 1015 Plus LOM machine, hopefully you may
find the following information useful:

- build speed...always difficult to be specific because of the variables
involved - component size and component complexity being the key
variables. Size is an obvious driver of time, complexity dictates the
size of cross-hatch and once again directly influences time. As a guide
however if you work on between 1 and 2 minutes per layer you won't be far
out.

- layer thickness...our current paper is 114 micron thick.

- accuracey...given the machine is well maintained (ie the X-Y mechanism
is in good order) in the X-Y plane the accuracy of cut is down to the
laser size ie 300 micron. In Z some caution needs to be exercised as the
type of paper (our other web based material) together with the compressive
force applied during the lamination process all contribute towards
inaccuracies in the overall height. With our current paper we apply a
0.5% shrinkage factor. Through experience however we vary this depending
on the finished height of the part, the larger the part the more Z
shrinkage we apply.

- purchase price...the current headline figure is £100,000 but deals can
always be done! Don't forget to add on ventilation and fire extinguisher
systems.

I trust this helps.

Regards.

Steve
