The number of US patents issued in the area of rapid prototyping and solid
freeform fabrication increased by 38% from 1997 to 1998. Patents issued in
this technology area have risen from 37 in 1994 to 108 in 1998.

Chatham Research is pleased to announce the availability of 3D Rapid
Prototyping Patents 99 . 3D RP Patents 99 is a database of 480 patents in the
area of rapid prototyping and solid freeform fabrication. 3D RP Patents 99
represents the replacement for 3D RP Patents 98.1. Where the 98.1 version had
285 US patents, version 99 has increased the database by more than 190
patents. This increase in patents is due to the number of new patents since
June 1, 1998 and to a more comprehensive data mining of earlier patents.

This database and search software consists of 480 patents in CD ROM format on
the technology area of rapid prototyping/solid freeform fabrication. The
graphic quality of the patents is identical to that available from the US
Patent Office, but all of the patents can be full text searched in a matter of
seconds.

What is 3D RP Patents 99?

3D Rapid Prototyping Patents 99 is a database and search software system for
quick access to high quality copies of 480 US patents in the area of three
dimensional rapid prototyping. The database is in on two CD ROMs (database is
in excess of 800 million bytes) for Windows 95, 98 and NT 4.0. The database is
current as of January 20, 1999. Adobe's Acrobat Reader (with search) is
included.

3D RP Patents 99 should be of interest to all business and technical
professionals in the technology area of three dimensional rapid prototyping or
solid freeform fabrication. If you were to purchase the same patents from the
US Patent Office in a paper form, the price would be more than $1400--and
would require a complete bookcase to hold the 13000 pages. With 3D RP Patents,
all of these pages are stored on two CD ROMs and are full text searchable.

Once you have installed the Acrobat Reader, you can access all the patents
contained in the CD ROMs. These patents have been stored in a PDF format to
retain the high image quality of the original patents, while providing a full
text search capability.
