I read your comments on the growth of parts, and I would like to provide some
information on how Somos(R) stereolithography resins work in different
environments. There are two relatively new resins for the SLA-500 from
DuPont,
Somos(R) 8100 Series (Somos 8110 for HeCd Lasers, Somos 8120 for SS Lasers and
Somos 8100 for Ar+ lasers) and the Somos(R) 7100 Series (also available for
all
3 laser systems, 7100, 7110, 7120). We performed an experiment over a period
of
time where we recorded the change in weight and length of tensile bars (dog
bones).
These are average results for five different tensile bars used in each
category:
Somos(R) 8100 Series:
0% R.H. Air (~30%R.H.) Water
Original Length (in.): 5.9168 5.9234 5.924
Length after 38 days: 5.9112 5.9250 5.954
Percent Change : 0.09% 0.03% 0.5%
Original Weight (grams): 24.4122 24.598 24.590

Somos(R) 7100 Series:
0% R.H. Air (~30%R.H.) Water

Length after 38 days: 5.9130 5.9134 5.9180
Percent Change : 0.057% 0.044% 0.12%
Original Weight (grams): 25.5739 25.5442 25.5726
Weight after 38 days: 25.6067 25.5946 25.8556
Percent Change: 0.13% 0.20% 1.1%
R.H. = Relative Humidity
