This is not the forum for this discussion but since it is started I will put
in my plug. I would think that if East Timor wanted independence. I would
think a prerequisite to announcing this independence would be have at least a
strong enough army to defend itself from its neighbors. This is a cruel
world we live in. And if you don't carry at least a big a stick as your
neighbor he will come take what you have. You can't have your cake and eat it
too. Why should the USA become involved at all. Its just not our problem. We
already have our big stick and if anyone wants to try and take whats ours
from us let them try. But its wrong to try to force our values on others and
that's what we would be doing. I am no pacifist by any means. Now get back to
work.
