Harold,
This is another item that seems to always make the back burner.
We have voiced our concerns with 3-D Systems on this issue more than once and as a result after conferring with our F/E made some custom modifications
to both of the SLA- 250"s - it is worth mentioning that the new smart start SLA-250 platforms were not all interchangeable with our older 250 an "89"
model.

We also took special note of the platform fastening design our new SLA-5000 had -
is this the best they could do? But then again something has to give on a major stall or something else will !

This new lock apparently would prevent any movement of the platform in the event of a blade stall/crash, but it seems to be more cumbersome to use because it will require the use of an allen wrench (two were furnished, with screw driver type handle) to remove and install the platform. Being a veteran of the SLA-350's "oops,-I-turned-it-the-wrong-way-again-and-the-knob-fell-off-this-time-and-had-to-fish-it-out-of-the-bottom-of-the-vat", I have been reluctant to replace the spring loaded clamp because there seems to be no safeguard from screwing in the set screw too far and losing the clamp in the event that this is errantly done when a platform is not in place (you never know, things happen). Furthermore, the allen wrenches could feasibly get "lost" (in the vat?), and who would own up to that?
