RE: Refeed on DTM's

Refeed is a function whereby the the feed cartridge at the opposite end from where the powder is pushed up, is lowered slightly to provide a reservoir for excess powder after the roller has crossed the part bed. I usually ran a refeed value of .02 inch because less than that wouldn't always overcome the hysterises (backlash) of the feed mechanism. Refeed temporarily compensates for large cross sections. It also solves the problem of layers being thicker in one direction than the other... have you ever noticed that one overflow container may fill up much quicker that the other. Basically, refeed just allowed me to run slightly lower feed rates so I could build right up to the 16.7 inches available in the part bed. Unfortunately, the new NT software eliminated this option.
