Do you want to gain a more thorough understanding of mechanical properties,
their origin and the tests that are conducted to determine them?

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers is offering this unique learning
opportunity. Understanding Mechanical Properties of Materials for Design
and Processing is being held December 7-8, 1999 in Farmington Hills,
Michigan.

Some of the topics to be covered include:
A general description of mechanical properties
Origins of Properties in Metals & Crystalline Ceramics
Testing of Mechanical Properties
Properties of Polymers
A Group Work Session (on the second day)

An understanding of the origin and testing of mechanical properties in
materials will benefit those involved with product design and materials
specifications. This course will assist in clarifying the interactions
among properties and the structures of materials that control them. We will
introduce the origin of properties such as yield & tensile strengths,
ducility, fatigue and creep strength and discuss the testing procedures used
in their determination.
