RE: LightYear software

I have noticed this since early on in the beta program with Lightyear and
the new Buildstation software. I don't know if this is a Lightyear issue or
if it is something new incorporated in the Buildstation software. I can
understand the rationale in doing this in that the affected characteristics
in the process are more evenly distributed across the platform in each layer
of the build. However, one problem I've had is that this feature has been a
huge disadvantage to me in cutting pre-dip delay and level wait times in
builds where differing geometries in a single build allowed me to sequence
the scanning order in such a way to allow additional time for a specific
part by scanning another part first or last. I think it would be better to
have an option, or "switch", to select the type of scanning order that will
be used in a given build.

Have you had this, or other problems with it?

Thanks,

Subject: LightYear software

I have been building with 3D Systems Lightyear software for a while now and
one major process difference between this software and the old
Partman/Maestro software is the scan order of the vector. In the past, if
you had multiple parts in a build, the SLA's would draw one entire part then
move to the next part on the same layer. With the Lightyear software the
SLA's draws the boarder vectors for all the parts first, then the hatch
vectors for all the parts, then the fill vectors. Has any one else noticed
this and if so, are you experiencing any problems with the new scanning
order?
