Jason,

I have to agree with you and pass on to Keith that Lightyear is worth a try I was like Keith and had put off installing Lightyear, even after purchasing a new computer purely for Lightyear..but then fate stepped in and crashed my SGI. Since we had no plans to keep or therefore fix the SGI - I found myself immediately on Lightyear. I use both Ciba and Somos resins and both 3D Systems and DSM Somos were right there to answer my questions. The hotline support from 3D was great and I am now running Lightyear without a hitch. It took me a week or so to get my defaults just the way I like them, but I did get there and I have to say that I like it better than Maestro now. I didn't think I would say that on the first day, as a matter of fact I said a lot of other things on that day - you can probably ask 3D support what I did have to say. 3D was great though and their hotline support was friendly, courteous and quick to try to find the answers for me if they didn't already know them.

Just this weekend I came in to catch up on email from the holidays and prepare a build each for my 250 and 350. I was in and out in less than 45 minutes. That included reading email, downloading and transferring files, and orienting models, creating supports and slicing for 8 parts. When I left I thought it was an hour later than it actually was and when I realized I'd only been here for 45 minutes, I said to myself - "boy, that Lightyear is better."

My recommendation - give it a try while you still have Maestro around - it may make your first day a little easier to handle.

Keith,
Don't let a few pessimists stop you from using Lightyear.
Just like any new software it take a short while to get used to but
the results are well worth the effort.

Go for it!
