RE: Alumina and SiC printing with zcorpīs Z402

Dear Alex Salvi...and all:

I am not sure about the mails you refer to, but there is some
misunderstanding of their content. My work deals mainly with the development
of products and processes related with metal matrix composites and non
ferrous alloys (in this order although it can seem funny). Presently we are
developing a process to produce rapid tooling made of metal matrix
composites by casting processes. As part of the process we employ rapid
prototyped models. Therefore, I am not doing any research in development of
rapid prototyping devices, and there is no presently any group doing
research in the development of RP tecghnologies in Inasmet. We are only
users of the technologies...and until presently we are only clients of RP
service providers. We are using RP models of many types (Quickcast,
Castform, Polyestirene SLS, Z-corp, Thermojet, ABS FDM,..) mainly to gain
knowledge and experience, and to have a better evaluation start point before
purchasing a RP machine ourselves.

In any case, your work seems very interesting and related to ours. I will
contact you for more details and exchange of information, which would
probably be out of the scope of this forum.

Asunto: Alumina and SiC printing with zcorp's Z402

Hello Dr. Ana Garcia (and anyone else interested of course)
I have been reading the 1999 postings to the mailing list and two emails
that you sent caught my attention. In one you said you were doing research
on rapid prototyping devices to do work with AlSiC and in the other you
mentioned the Z402 3d printer used for casting joints of the millenium man.
I am currently using our Z402 printer to print both SiC as well as Alumina
parts which we cast to make metal matrix composites. Our alloys are
aluminum, copper and magnesium.
If you or anyone you know is working on this I thought we might share some
ideas.
Sincerely,

Alex Salvi
