Summary
This symposium solicits papers on emerging areas of manufacturing engineering
including, but not limited to (1) high-speed machining; (2) design and control of
high-speed machine components; (3) solid free form manufacturing including hybrid
machining processes (for example combined laser sintering and high-speed finish
machining); (4) parallel link machine tool structures; (5) non-traditional manufacturing
processes such as waterjet and laser machining; (6) micro- and nano-machining processes
and (7) modeling of manufacturing processes with emphasis on the use of models in
CAD/CAM software.

Dates: Papers must be submitted by February 20, 2000. Authors will be notified of paper
acceptance by May 25, 2000. Camera-ready mats are due June 25, 2000.
