John - regarding your question on curtain re-coating. If that is the same thing
as curtain coating it is a technology used in the photographic industry. I
vaguely remember that it came orignally from the paper pulp coating industry but
was introduced into photographic film coating in the 70's by Kodak. I no longer
work in those technologies but you might contact the recently formed
International Society of Coating Science and Technology for more information.
Ed Cohen, the president of the ISCST, can be reached at iscst@aol.com. I am
sure he could steer you in the right direction.

Hello RP-ml,

In 1993 there was launched a project by Materialize on medical-RP applications
called PHIDIAS.
In the Synthesis Report there was discribed a Curtain Recoating technology,
which has its origin in the photography industry.

1) Can anyone give me some more background about this recoating technology, what
is the situation about interlectual properties and who could supply such a
recoating component?

2) Where to look for alternative (re)coating processes (and component suppliers)
for different materials like fluids, gel, paste etc..

Thanks in advance for your comments!

Regards
