Well, as long as you're not talking about automatically converting an STL
mesh into a nice part, the Rhino demo(www.rhino3d.com) could do it--it'll
convert every polygon into a little surface.

That reminds me, I'm curious about the software that's available that does
claim to able to fit NURBS surfaces to meshes or point clouds. How well they
work, how much they cost.
