I am a student at the University of Utah doing thesis work on the material
properties of injection molded plastic parts made using Rapid Tooling. I
am using five mold insert sets; tool steel, aluminum, Ciba, Albright, and
AIM. All insert sets have the same geometry. The parts will be tested
for tensile strength and impact resistance. I have a couple of questions.
1. Does anyone on the list know of part strength issues companies have
had going from RT to standard molding methods?
2. So far I have found only one similar project by Colton and Starr at
Georgia Tech. If anyone has come across related research would you please
drop me a line
Thanks,
