Dear Andreas,
DeskArtes 3Data Expert downloadable at www.deskartes.com can probably
solve your clients' problem.
ProE is known to produce good STL, but in the following cases our
clients have
experienced problems and prefered to take the route from IGES via
DeskArtes
software to RP:
1. Complex assemblies which ProE hasn't been able to translate into STL
2. Pro/Designer models
3. Models which have parts in them which come from other CAD/CAM
software.
There is also a version of ProE were the default parameters for STL
output are bad, and
some users of that version prefer to go via IGES and DeskArtes 3Data
Expert.
Please, feel free to download the software and request an id in the
About Box of the
Help menu. Incidentally, a new version was just released this month!
Best regards
Maria Nordgren
DeskArtes
hello everyone,
a customer asked me, how to export a bad Pro Engineer part to
a
stl-part.
he wasn't able to do so in ProE because of several problems
with
surfaces and edges.
there is no chance to repair the ProE part completly in time
(1000
features).
has anybody of you had a similar problem in the past? are
there any
tools which can import a bad ProE or iges-part and exports
this as a
stl-part in a better way than ProE does? there is no need to
have a
perfect stl-file, because the rp-part would be scaled down,
which means
that small features wouldn't be buildt, anyway.
thanks in advance,
Andreas
