>
> EAST LANSING, Michigan, March 7, 2002 - The first stereolithography (SL) materials to simulate the performance properties of ABS thermoplastics were announced last week at the North American Stereolithography User Group Meeting in California by the RenShape* Solutions Tooling Group of Vantico Inc. A third new SL material that was introduced for generating polypropylene-like models, prototypes and parts features enhanced processing characteristics.
> The two ABS-like SL photopolymers, SL 7560 and SL 7570, exhibit a unique combination of rigidity, durability and heat resistance. Specifically, SL 7560 is an opaque material with a highly rigid flexural modulus of 350,000 psi, elongation of 15%, impact strength of 0.8 ft-lb/in and high heat deflection temperature (100*C with a postcure/56*C without postcure). The new product is easy to process with a low viscosity, fast photo speed and high green strength.
> SL 7570 is a water-clear product featuring an ABS-like flexural modulus of 365,000 psi along with a 20% elongation and good heat deflection temperature. Like SL 7560, it is easy to handle with a low viscosity, fast photo speed and very high green strength.
>
> New RenShape Solutions SL 7545 polypropylene-like material has a flexural modulus of 200,000 psi along with good elongation, impact strength and heat deflection temperature. Added benefits are high green strength and expanded processing latitude.
> Vantico> '> s comprehensive family of RenShape Solutions SL photopolymers includes 20 different materials that are used for the production of accurate, durable models with such diverse characteristics as humidity and high-temperature resistance and tough, polypropylene- and ABS-like properties. Vantico also manufactures and markets a broad range of epoxy and poly-urethane systems for modeling, moldmaking, prototyping and forming initial parts to the automotive, foundry, aerospace and general manufacturing industries. The company has been a world leader in plastic tooling materials for more than 60 years.
