Dear list,
I recently received e-mail from a designer who has been in contact
with a foundry that says it will cast relatively large aluminum parts
into a new type of high temperature vulcanized rubber. He wanted to
know if I knew anything about it. I've been casting zinc into high
temperature vulcanized rubber molds, but my experience has been that
relatively thick sections of zinc will quickly degrade the mold. I
wouldn't attempt something like a 356 aluminum with the rubber I've
got.
Is anyone out there familiar with a vulcanized rubber that can take
aluminum?
Thanks,
Denis Cormier
