Doug,
The company I work for does laser micromachining in the hole sizes
that you have described below. We use a UV direct write process which
allows you to provide a .dxf file and we transpose this to the surface
of the part using our fully integrated laser micromachining system. If
you could provide some sample material to the address below I would be
happy to provide an example of what the machining would look like.

Also, FYI. Mound Laser & Photonics Center, Inc. is a full service laser
marking and micromachining application development company. We focus on
providing research & development, laser application development, and
laser job shop services to the commercial and defense industries. MLPC
provides access to the latest in solid-state diode-pumped technology and
highly trained personnel. If you have other questions regarding laser
micromachining, marking, or welding please give us a call.

Subject: Machining Ceramics?

Hi All,

Here is what I am looking for...

Do any of you work with machinable ceramics?
If so which type is preferred to hold the best tolerance?
I am looking to put in 40-50 0.150mm holes spaced at 0.165mm, thickness
to drill through is 0.5-.75mm.
I will be working up some drawings for this in the next day or two, any
input you could give me now would aid in this design.

Thanx again,

Doug Johnson
