Magics from Materialise can do this and usually works
quite well.

As to your second note, I think that either you have your
years wrong or you are dreaming. There was no SLA or any
thing approaching RP as we know it today in 1976. Surely
you mistyped the year. I think you probably meant to type
1996. (OK, I won't call you surely). ;)
