Industry consultant, analyst, and author Terry Wohlers, president of Wohlers
Associates, Inc., visited the Materialise HQ in Leuven, Belgium on September
23 - 24, 2002 to participate in a Magics Tooling training program. Over the
past decade, Terry Wohlers has served as a voice in the rapid prototyping
and manufacturing industry. He is a frequent speaker and the author of more
than 250 books, articles, reports, and technical papers on engineering and
manufacturing automation.

Impressed by the ongoing developments in tool design software and especially
in those of Magics Tooling software, Terry Wohlers enrolled in a Magics
Tooling training sessions, designed to learn how to use all of Magics
Tooling's features to their maximum efficiency. Materialise was very pleased
to welcome him.

Magics Tooling is triangle-based, dedicated software optimised to do one
thing and do it well: design and create tools in the fastest way possible.
The user can save time by creating the tool directly from the STL design.
With the Magics Tooling's automated functions, a tool for a part can be
designed in a matter of minutes. This software puts the "rapid" back in
rapid tooling by reducing lead times. Magics Tooling is ideal for toolmakers
looking to enhance design and accelerate the design process. Automatically
generating the parting plane and easy addition of tooling elements and
draft, are just two of the possibilities. Magics Tooling has crafted a total
solution for tool design challenges, covering and automating the tooling
process from the quotation step over cavity design to electrode and assembly
design. The Magics Tooling Expert module helps toolmakers win more business
as it provides them with a systematic and highly automated means to quote
tools. All relevant info is generated into reliable, professional looking
and well-documented tool printouts. Electrodes for spark erosion are created
quickly, efficiently, and accurately with the EDM module. Using the Assembly
module standard mould components - pins, plates, bushings, and total
assemblies - can easily be added to the tool design.
