John/List,
the Vantico RenShape StereoCol resin and lacquer has passed the USP Class VI
biocompatibility tests. This involves injection and implantation tests with
animals and is the only SL resin that I am aware of that has passed this
level of bio-testing. However, the manufacturer has advised that it is up to
the user to determine the suitability of the parts made using this resin for
specific applications. Also, this is a high-speed resin specifically
formulated for anatomical BioModels so it may not be suitable for making
usable prototypes of all types of devices.

Kind regards,

Subject: SLA Resin for Medical Devices

Does anyone out there have any experience with the use of SLA components in
clinical trials?

I believe that the toughest hurdle might be proof of safety via
biocompatibility testing.

The resin we're looking into for this would be Somos 9110.

John
