Not personally, but one of my suppliers had until recently a mall
retail outlet that did the laser-etched faces, and he talked a lot
about it.

As far as I can tell, it's not a real easy to make money. The product
isn't that great, it's priced awfully high for your average walk-by
buyer, the production is a lot of hassle, and the entry costs are huge
compared to selling almost anything else you can sell in a mall.

My impression is that there are probably some locations where it can
work, but I wouldn't want to own a franchise in an ordinary mall or
town.
