RE: [rp-ml] Pro-E STL parameters

Prof. Bernard,

While you are technically correct, following the procedure you recommend
will often lead to unnecessarily large .stl files. Since most additive
fabrication machines aren't capable of a resolution better than about .025
mm (.001"), we always recommend using that as a chord height. A smaller
chord height does nothing to improve the final part, and often creates
needless bottlenecks in file transfer, orientation, and slicing.

Dera Pat,

someyears ago, I used to use Pro-E very often and I identified the
following scenario:

you enter a very very small value, then Pro-E replies: "the minimum value
is... " and then you enter the proposed value + 1 micron and you obtain the
best possible STL file. Sometimes, it remains problems with the solid
characters (when you want to write a word on the part, for exemple a
reference).

This is my experience.

I hope this will help.

Best Regards,

Prof. A. BERNARD
