Subject: Faculty positions at NC State

Hi Brent,

I've been trying to post a message to the RPML about some faculty openings
of interest to the SFF community, but my postings are being rejected as spam
by the RPML server (not sure what that says about me.). I'm therefore trying
to spread the word one contact at a time.

We have two openings. The first opening is for a senior faculty member, and
it carries with it a $1M endowment. Candidates for that position should be
working in an area that relates to (or could be extended to) some aspect of
medicine. It could be tissue engineering, medical device design, etc. Even
if the candidate isn't currently working in that area, if he/she is doing
work that could be applied in the medical area, then that would be
acceptable. The second opening is for a junior faculty member working in
advanced materials and/or processes. For those candidates not familiar with
our program, we've got two Arcam electron beam machines plus concept
modelers from Stratasys, 3D Systems, and ZCorp. There's a good chance that
we'll be making another major equipment acquisition within a few months. The
manufacturing processes lab also includes 3-5 axis CNC machining, EDM, heat
treatment furnaces, etc. We work very closely with the Materials Science
department. They have most of the major material testing and
characterization capabilities that would be of interest. In short, this is a
nice place for a junior faculty member to start a career in the sense that
the candidate won't have to spend inordinate amounts of time acquiring
equipment and setting up new labs. He/she will be able to hit the ground
running.

If you know of anybody who might be interested in either of these positions,
then I'd be happy to speak with them. Please encourage them to contact me as
soon as possible via telephone or e-mail. We will start reviewing resumes
fairly soon. Feel free to forward this message to others as you see fit.

Best regards,

Denis
