I visited with some guys from this company and they stated they could convert almost any graphics type file to STL. They had a few examples at their booth. Some of the stuff was quite impressive.

Subject: [rp-ml] Hi Resolution gaming figure files to "usable" STL conversion

Hello All,

I've noticed a strong interest and desire lately from the gaming industry to have their high resolution graphics characters made into physical models. Many of these models are very nice. The problem the gaming industry runs into is translating their large, hi-res characters into smaller file size STLs without losing surface resolution and integrity. Of course, smaller file size is key when RP application softwares must slice the files for production. An example are OBJ files. After you translate an OBJ, the files are really bad and fine surface resolution is lost. After discussion with many of these companies, a turnkey method is needed to allow this industry to move into creation of their files on High Resolution RP machines. Can anyone offer a solution Service Bureaus and others can use in order to perform this service for this up and coming interest?
     Thanks.
