RE: [rp-ml] Acu-Cast Technologies purchases 5 i-Pros Systems from 3D

I will second what Rob has said below.

I feel that any company that is making the investment in new RP technology
ought to be able to let others know.

I don't know how many actual consumers (end users that buy their RP parts
from a 3rd party) monitor this list, but I think this list may represent one
of the only ways for them to easily obtain new information.

I sold for 3D Systems in New England for several years, and my guess is the
90%+ of the consumers, get their info from whoever they buy their parts
from. Typically, that supplier of parts may be using older RP machines and
it does not benefit them to tell the consumer that newer/upgraded machines
typically produce a better quality part. I know the SLA world the best, and
on the SLA front the supplier does not want to spend the money for new Viper
machines... They would rather have the consumer think that SLA
250's/500's/5000's produce parts that come off the machine looking just as
nice as a Viper part...

If we do not let companies say when they have decided to upgrade their RP
technology we do not let consumers know newer technology may offer a better
alternative...

My shameless plug:
Hi-Res 3D produces SLA parts ONLY on Viper SLA machines. We have many of
them...
These machines produce much higher quality parts when building small,
detailed parts that will fit in the 10x10x10 Viper build chamber.
Our customers are typically working on small detailed assemblies where part
quality is paramount.
Our shop is set up to provide parts more quickly than others, of higher
quality than others, and at a competitive price...

Hi Mr. Sachs,

With all due respect, I personally feel the RPML's allowance of "it is
entirely acceptable for a RP vendor to announce a new product" has not only
benefited my business in the past, but also helped increase knowledge in the
rapid prototyping community of the Objet PolyJet rapid prototyping
technology. I feel ANY company's advertisement of something proud and
exciting is always good news and tells me the industry is still alive and
well and still full of entrepreneurial spirit. So, I'd like to personally
congratulate Acu-Cast for successfully furthering the growth and goals of
the Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing industry.

     Thanks.

I hope we don't start seeing regular advertising here, because it could
rapidly get out of hand (imagine 1500 companies posting ads here!). IMHO, I
think the below posting is 'borderline', but I don't mind a few 'important'
commercial announcements.
