IMAGE-BASED MESHING - REVERSE ENGINEERING REALITY
26th November, 2008
ARUP Campus, Blythe Valley Park, Solihull, UK

Simpleware (www.simpleware.com) and ARUP (www.arup.com) are pleased to
invite you to a one day event and training course on Image-based meshing
for Biomechanics, Biomedical and Materials Applications. This workshop
is aimed at those currently using, as well as those interested in using,
3D image data (as obtained from CT, Micro-CT, MRI and Ultrasound) to
generate Rapid Prototyping, CAD and Finite Element/Finite Volume models.

During the morning session a number of leading researchers will present
both industrial and academic applications. The afternoon session will
provide a demonstration and a hands-on workshop on model generation
using Simpleware software. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own
3D imaging data and will be given one to one help and advice on model
generation during the afternoon clinic.

PRELIMINARY PROGRAMME:

10:00 - 12:30 Technical Presentations:

. Brian Walker: ARUP, UK
Image-based LS-DYNA modelling: facial mechanics and forensics

. Ruth Wilcox: University of Leeds, UK
Back to basics: modelling the spinal vertebrae

. Lee Margetts: Manchester University, UK
SMILES: A Scalable, Mobile and Interactive Laboratory for Engineering
Simulation

. Philippe Young: Simpleware Ltd, UK
Meshing from 3D image data: from materials characterisation to medical
implant simulation

. Gemma Whatling: Cardiff University, UK
Using image processing techniques for determining in-vivo knee
kinematics

. TBC: Imperial College, UK
Presentation title tbc

12:30 - 13:30 Buffet Lunch provided courtesy of ARUP

13:30 - 16:00 Demonstration and Tutorials/Clinic:
Demonstration of ScanIP, +ScanFE and +ScanCAD including new features
from recent release will be given. This will be informal and attendees
are encouraged to provide input/feedback.
Tutorials will be provided for new users and a clinic will be run in
parallel for existing users. Delegates are encouraged to bring their own
data where available in order to receive personalised support and advice
on model generation.

Please note that numbers for the afternoon workshop are restricted to 16
people and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

The meeting is FREE and includes coffee breaks, lunch and workshop
material but pre-registration is required. To REGISTER please contact me
