Dear Javier,
If you can spare the specimen for the scanning process, take a look at
CGI inside geometry scanners.
They cut the specimen layer by layer while capturing visual images of
each layer then combining it in some sort of software.
We send them, real small and hard to scan by other method plastic parts.
Only thing to consider would be whether or not they can provide the
level of detail you are looking for. Better talk to them.
On the other hand, we had scanned some human skin samples with
Breuckmann optical scanners in the past.
They have specialized equipment for this job. It might be a tedius job
to cover a whole insect by photogrametric methods but it is worth taking
a look.
