Subject: Mathematics Software and stl files

My understanding is that Mathematica can save and export models in DXF format. These models are surface models, not solid modles. They can be imported into other packages and shelled. Shelling in form Z of a highly complicated and convoluted shape will be less than desireable, imho, but it will work and faces and points can be moved around till it approximates (very closely) the original surface. There are other ways--trial and error.

I know that others have accomplished this.

Can anyone help me out with a research project.

I'm looking for a way to convert mathematical equations to an .stl
Does anyone know if there is a package (or way) for me to convert a

                "Mathematica" file to .stl output?
Is there a way to input "Mathematica" into "AutoCad" (or "FORM Z")?
Does anyone know if "Maple" can be output as an .stl file.

Any help, referrals, or experience would be greatly appreciated.
