What tools/resources are available that allow someone to control
characteristics of the triangles in STL files? In addition to the chord
height tolerance, I would like to set limits (or constraints) on the shape
and size of the triangles. An example might be that no angle of any
triangle can be less than 40 degrees, or all triangles be the same shape
and still meet the chord height tolerance. I know this depends on the
geometry of the model, but that's the type of thing I'm looking for.
I have a large curved surface (14x16 feet) that I would like to approximate
with large, "clean" triangles that I can cut from plates and piece
together. I'm looking at chord height tolerances on the order of 0.l
inches or more. The file is currently in Pro/Engineer, but I can export
IGES, STEP, etc.
