I recall ding this years ago in the basic Autocad package. The process went
something like this: Convert the STL to DXF (3dfaces). Load into Autocad and
create your views by positioning the model or your viewpoint. Plot to DXB
plotter at 1:1 with hidden line removal. DXBIN your resulting 2D plan view
and add dimensions.
I also remember an SGI command line that came with the earliest Solid
Concepts support generator that read in an STL , removed the line between
coplaner triangles and wrote out an IGES wireframe. Whatever happened to that
